Dual Camera
It's full of different features that are easy to use, meaning even if you have no experience with photography you can still get a pretty good shot! Using Wide aperture was fun to play with and I ended up getting some pretty cool shots!
Monochrome mode gives you a nice black and white picture with some amazing details and it's nice to have it as a lens, not as a filter. Although I am a complete novice, I really like photography and tend to rely too much on the camera making all the adjustments. However, with pro photography mode I was able to get some really cool shots, from macro photos, to changing the colour tones of whatever I was aiming at. This feature was actually easy to use and just takes a while to play with to get the results that you want. Shooting a video in 4K is new to me but the colours were vibrant and the image was clear. The only thing I noticed was there didn't seem to be any image stabilisation but I reckon with a tripod this would be fine. Speaking of a tripod, if you are using night mode I'd suggest using something like this if you want a clearer image, as I found holding it in my hand resulted in a slightly blurry photo. Overall, I really enjoyed using this phones camera and would say that it is one of the best features on the Honor 8 Pro.
The Battery
Let’s start by saying I would have charge my previous phone 3 or 4 times a day and I was required to carry a power bank around with me. This phone, the Honor 8 Pro, is a completely different story. I can leave the power bank at home as now I don’t have to worry about the phone running out of juice!
I can start the day at 8am and still have over 50% by 7pm on a single charge. I’m a heavy user and spend a lot of time scrolling through social media, watching videos and gaming, even after this, I still have enough battery to take some photos with the amazing camera. Normally I’d have the following settings turned on, which on my previous phone, would drain the battery quickly:
After 5 hours of use I’d still have 86% of charge and after 10 hours of use I’d have 57% of charge left. Charging the phone for 30 minutes I would get 30% of charge and it took 120 minutes to get 100% charge! I currently haven’t used any of the power saving settings as I simply haven’t needed them! If you’re like me who uses a phone a lot and needs it to survive the day, then this is the phone for you!
The Performance
Using Antutu to run score tests the Honor 8 Pro averages at about 128,000 which puts it up there with other high end phones. The phone is incredibly quick when it comes to loading apps (There's barely any delay at all!). The Kirin chipset is quick and 6gb of RAM helps run most apps without any lag. Games run quickly and smoothly but what I did notice is they took a little longer to load than social media apps. This isn't really a problem for me as I'm only a casual gamer though. The main thing I use the phone for is to watch videos.
Watching YouTube videos is a great experience. The only thing that might let you down with the quality is your Internet! Watching movies, like Deadpool, on the Honor 8 Pro is great too. The overall performance makes this phone a pleasure to use and not once have I got frustrated that apps have taken a while to load!
Conclusion
The Honor 8 Pro is a simply amazing phone that is super quick and has a battery that will last all day, which is so much better than other expensive phones out there. I would love to have this phone in my day to day life because it's so easy and pleasurable to use.
The camera is simply amazing and it is a feature I'd recommend to all my photography friends out there if they're looking for a new phone. Even if you're not into photography, there's so many other features on this phone that will impress you just as much; from its ability to play games without lag to using knuckle gestures to open certain apps. For the price you can't go wrong with the Honor 8 Pro and you should definitely get it if your in the market looking to get a new phone.
